Starbucks Resources Page

Thank you for participating in this special Coffee with Community event! Together, Starbucks partners will have the opportunity to assemble over 3,000 Battalion Buddies, making a lasting impact on military families.
This meaningful initiative gives participants the chance to honor the resilience and sacrifices of military children by creating Battalion Buddies—stuffed teddy bears that provide comfort and joy during a parent’s deployment.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR EVENT

Tables/Seating
  • The Battalion Buddy assembly is a seated event. Round or rectangular tables work; the event host should choose based on available space and total number of volunteers.

Battalion Buddy Assembly
  • Pre-set a Battalion Buddy kit at each chair or distribute the kits individually as participants enter. Each participant should use one bear kit at a time in order to avoid mixing the materials.
  • Each kit includes all materials needed to assemble one Battalion Buddy. Ensure participants use all stuffing provided in their kits and keep materials separate to avoid excess stuffing.
  • Plastic zippered pouches should be discarded, DO NOT repack the bear into the pouch.
  • Set up re-usable boxes to drop off completed bears, additional Battalion Buddy kits can be staged next to the drop off box.

Post Event
  • Discard all plastic inside and outside the kits (including the plastic zippered pouch); do not use them for shipping.
  • At the end of your event, all complete Battalion Buddies will need to be boxed and shipped back to Operation Gratitude.
  • Re-pack all completed Battalion Buddies in the boxes the kits were shipped in. Typically, Operation Gratitude branded boxes sent can hold up to 40 completed bears.

How to Pack Completed Bears
  • Place bears in the box, alternating the position of the faces. One layer should be face up and the next face down as pictured below. Carefully packing these bears will ensure they are all able to fit in the boxes provided and will avoid damage in transit.
  • Any damaged bears should be placed in the top row. These will be repaired at Operation Gratitude HQ.
Return Shipping
  • Attach the prepaid shipping label over the original shipping label.
  • Secure the external packing slip to the side of the box. Be sure not to cover your shipping label.
  • Schedule your USPS pickup or drop the box off at your local post office.
  • To schedule pickup, simply use the following link and follow the steps: https://tools.usps.com/schedule-pickup-steps.htm.
    • Note: If the system asks for weight, enter 15 pounds and the shipping provider will update the weight automatically.
