20 Reasons to Give Back

To celebrate our dedicated volunteers, Operation Gratitude kicked off the new year with a campaign to demonstrate the impact we made together in 2019 and to showcase 20 Reasons To Give Back again in 2020!

For 20 days across social media, Operation Gratitude shared why it’s more important than ever to say thank you to all those who serve — showcasing letters, emails and photos from servicemen and women who received our Care Packages last year.

Below are a few highlights from those 20 days.

“Everybody in 4-9 Cav, 2ABCT, 1CD truly appreciated all the care packages you have sent us during the Holiday times!

God bless all of you for being so caring and kind-hearted and not forgetting us!

We are truly thankful and proud to be serving our country filled with amazing people such as yourselves!”

“Hi there and Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to thank you for the care packages that you sent out to folks in our command out here in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was so thoughtful of your organization to think of us and for everyone to volunteer their time and energy. We loved everything we received!

Truly grateful for you all!”

Our sincere appreciation to USAA and their employees, as well as to our 1 million volunteers nationwide who donated their time, treasure, and talent to help us send 10,000 individually addressed, Operation Gratitude Holiday Care Packages in 2019.

“To everyone,
I’m not sure how I got so lucky, but I received another care package from your group. I was so excited, especially being so close to Christmas. I really, really, really, really enjoyed the last one and this one as well!

You have truly made me and my group happy! I especially love all of the cards and notes. I read every single one of them! I wish I could reach out to everyone, but some of them don’t have addresses.

Please let everyone know how appreciative I am and how much the notes and wonderful items mean to me! I really appreciate your kindness and thoughts, it means a lot! Thank you so much!!”

“The 163rd Transportation Detachment would like to extend a huge and heart filled thank you for your support during this Holiday Season.

Your care packages, festive theme and letters have been invaluable. Thank you for to everyone involved in bringing home a little closer during these holiday seasons, and giving soldiers like us a moral boost and affirmation of preserving the freedoms of our great nation back home.

We send our gratitude and hope that everyone has safe, fulfilling and amazing Holidays.

Till we return, Lightning!

As we’ve reflected on the reasons to give back over the past 20 days, and received an overwhelming response from grateful Americans asking “how” they can support, we are shifting gears to talk about what actions you can take in 2020.
