All of it was a wonderful reassurance that what we are doing out here is appreciated at home!

Dear Mrs Esther Katzman, Mrs Ann Hamilton, and the wonderful crew of Operation Gratitude,

The team received your geedunk (candy) care packages yesterday and I wanted to extend my sincerest appreciation to you and all your crew!
The packages really hit the spot and you and your team provided us enough geedunk, and there was a mess load, that we were able to distribute it throughout the entire base for the holiday season.  The multiple letters and cards from school kids and well wishers really made our day, especially Mrs Carole Z’s  students at Riverwood Elementary School, Mrs Bev’s Study Group at ***  Public Library, and the students of the K-D   and the C.W.  FFA Chapter.  I got a cool picture of some stick figures parachuting out of airplanes and spaceships.  I have never been called “Hero” and “Brave One” so much in my life.  All of it was a wonderful reassurance that what we are doing out here is appreciated at home!

Though I must say I now understand your strategy.  Last month you sent us care packages that included toothpaste and tooth brushes, obviously intended to preceding the massive amount of sugar we so gratefully received.  Very smart.

This truly was a wonderful piece of America that you so kindly put the time and effort in to mail us.

Thank you very much,

V/R

As A Mom I’m thankful to you because my son received a package for Christmas!

Dear Operation Gratitude,

I’m sending a pic of my son (the tall white guy in the back) and the soldiers in his section. My son left for basic training when he was 17 yrs old (he is now 19), and I have missed his 18th and 19th birthday as he is now stationed in ***.  . I was worried when he was shipped overseas I wouldn’t be able to afford to send him packages, because money for me has always been a little tight. I discovered your organization awhile back and signed him up with you guys. This Christmas I was able to send him a little package but not in time for Christmas. As a matter of fact he still hasn’t received it and I was a little sad about him not getting anything for Christmas, and then he sends me this pick with a package you guys had sent him. He’s sharing with the people in his section. So I just wanted to email you guys to tell you, Thank you so very much! As A Mom I’m thankful to you because my son received a package for Christmas!

Sincerely,

A.F.

Y’all are the best

Good Morning (here at least,)
Thank you so very much for all of the care packages you sent.  Myself and
all of the others I submitted surely appreciate your thoughtfulness and
efforts.  I’m sure it isn’t easy assembling so many packages.  Again, thank
you from the bottom of my heart.  I’m sure I speak for all of the others as
well.  Additionally, one of my SSgts and her family were overwhelmed with
gratitude for the Christmas gifts and meal voucher you sent.  Y’all are the
best!
Thank you,
J.L.H., , MSgt, USAF

A lot of troops were extremely happy and grateful for everything you guys sent us and also do for us day in and day out

Thank you so very much for our packages! A lot of troops were extremely happy and grateful for everything you guys sent us and also do for us day in and day out. We can’t thank you enough! Love you guys  E.L.

A great big hug to everyone who helped pack the box for all of us and all the great volunteers and supporters of us here and rest assured we appreciate your support as much as you support us!

Dear St Joseph School, MMWB, ORCAS, J.M.  HS****  / VFW / American Legion Post, The HS, OPGRAT, and R.C.H. Elementary Family,

Apologies in advance for writing in mass but I also made sure to send cards to each and every one of you personally to thank you and make sure you know that your support, appreciation, and efforts are not going unnoticed and we are all sincerely grateful of each and every one of you and the work and time you are putting in are meaningful to all of us and bring a smile or laugh to us everytime we receive anything from home no matter how small or large.

We have been on the ground in the middle east since late summer and will be going back sometime next year but I cannot tell you much more beyond that only that we are helping oversee engineer construction projects and helping protect and defend not only the people here but also making sure we prevent more terrorist activity in our homeland.

The efforts and work you all do is so important and I tried to make sure I recognized each and every one of you in the last few weeks while I wrote multiple post cards but some of you I may have not been able to reach individually and I know an email is kind of a generic non individualized message I wanted to at least attempt to at least tell you how much I and we appreciate you and thank you for your continued support, kindness, and moral boost no matter what time of year it is but especially during the holidays.

This is my 4th and last deployment before I retire after 30+ years of service in September 2018 but definitely no regrets.  Lots of good and bad memories and scars some visiual some not but that is all part of life.  For those students that are in JROTC just know the military can be a hard life and difficult to hang on to a marriage or kids.  It  is possible with making good choices and finding a way to balance work and play ultimately.  The military can be a great life and you get out of it what you put into it both personally, professionally, spiritually, and education.

Anyway a great big hug to everyone who helped pack the box for all of us and all the great volunteers and supporters of us here and rest assured we appreciate your support as much as you support us!

Take care,
M.
