Halloween Candy Program
Need some ideas about how to organize and publicize your Halloween Candy event?
~ Find helpful tips here: Halloween Candy: Tips for Dentists
~ Check out the creative flyers folks shared with us in previous years: Halloween Flyers
~ Please separate chocolate candy from all other candy and send to us in separate cartons, marked “Chocolate” or “Non-Chocolate.” Sorry, but we cannot send Pixy Stix in our care packages; please remove them before donating your candy to us.
We encourage dental offices to invite staff and patients to write letters/cards to the troops that we can include with the candy in our care packages: Letter Writing Flyer
We also encourage donations of dental hygiene products such as:
~ Commercially-sealed Lip Balm
~ Toothpaste & Toothbrushes
~ Dental Floss
~ Mouthwash (Travel-size)
We want to keep the smiles on the troops’ faces all shiny, bright and healthy!
Wondering how you’ll get your donations to Operation Gratitude once your Halloween Candy event is over?
Go here to find shipping information and tips: Important Shipping Information
Please use a heavy-duty, durable box no larger than 24 x 24 x 20 and weight not to exceed 50 lbs. per box
(Thank you for understanding that we cannot pay for shipping your donations to our facility, as we need every penny of our funds to pay shipping costs on the care packages to the troops: $15/package.)
Please include this Halloween Donor Form in every carton you send in order to correctly identify your shipment and to receive an acknowledgment. If you would like your acknowledgement to include the weight of the candy, please weigh your candy and indicate on the donor form.
Please ship or deliver your candy donations by mid-November 2013 to:
Operation Gratitude/California Army National Guard
17330 Victory Boulevard
Van Nuys, CA 91406
Attn: Rich Hernandez
Phone: 262-674-7281 (262-OPGRAT-1)
If you would like confirmation of delivery on your shipment to us prior to receipt of our acknowledgment letter, please use the tracking system provided by your shipper.
Acknowledgement letters will be sent within 3 months.
IN-PERSON DELIVERY: We will accept item and letter donations at the armory during our Volunteer Hours of Operation. Please bring a completed Halloween Donor Form with your delivery. If you would like acknowledgement to include the weight of the candy, please indicate candy weight on the Donor Form.
Financial donations are welcome and may be made online or sent by mail. Please do not include checks in cartons of items and candy (to avoid losing them). Financial donations should be mailed separately to:
16444 Refugio Road
Encino, CA 91436
(DO NOT SEND Item/Candy donations to above Encino address; they will be rejected or discarded)
You’re not a dentist but you still want to collect and donate candy? Thank you! We are grateful for your support! We hope you’ll consider collecting dental hygiene items (listed above) and writing letters — we really need those, too! Operation Gratitude receives over 120 tons of candy each year, please do not spend money to purchase candy to donate to us. Instead, please consider donating those funds to help pay for shipping costs of candy boxes sent to our troops. Every $15 received sends another care package.
Again, please deliver your item/candy donations by mid-November 2013 to ensure we can get them into our care packages this year and none of the candy goes to waste!
Last, but not least: We hope you will “like” the Halloween Candy BuyBack Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/HalloweenCandy and the Operation Gratitude Facebook page: www.facebook.com/OperationGratitude, if you haven’t already! We will post news, updates, helpful tips and other information about the 2013 Halloween Candy Program there — so checking those pages will be a good way to stay up on what’s happening.
